The Future of Concept Sketching

Spinning Hat is a gift company who rely on the ingenious ideas and creativity of their design team and with every idea there must be concept sketches other wise the idea will be lost on deaf ears. At the moment an idea is thought up and quickly scribbled on a posted note or onto a left over napkin from lunch.
But how long can pen to paper technique last for?

One method has been the aid of computers where designers use a Tablet to draw straight to the computer where some amazing visuals can be made. Or recently with the new iPad designers can sketch on the screen as if it were paper very impressive. But as good as this method is are we losing the skill of hand sketching, which was once seen as a high skill in this industry is it now being pushed back to make way for computer skills.

(Note I didnt sketch these found them on google wish I had there awesome)

I my self are more favourable to hand sketching but I am planning to make the jump to the techno side soon, it’s just what industry seem to want now. I give it ten years and designers will get an idea and not grab that bit of scrap paper and chewed biro pen but start up the computer upload the program and begin sketching.

Since I am planning to join the crowd any suggestion as what’s the best to buy?
